Rocket Fishing Rod

This rod won the Best Kids Tackle award in 2005. It's designed to teach young children (8 and up) to fish. As any parent can attest to, teaching youngsters to cast can have some painful drawbacks. My kids never hooked me, but I saw my younger brother hook my dad in the earlobe when we were kids. When my brother went to cast, I thought my dad was going to go in the water. It's kind of funny now (then too).

Rocket Fishing Rod in Action

Anyway, with the Rocket, you just pump it up, aim, and push the button. 10, 20, 30 feet and right on target everytime. It's even good for casting a line in-between close piers and boats, rock piles, weed points, wherever fish may be hiding. It's kind of like a bazooka or something, with a bobber and hook at one end and a reel at the other. A couple of other good things, it's tough and, if the kids get bored, they can always shoot at ducks, frogs, or other things that may be around.

This hook launching system has a patented safety bobber that hides the hook or lure until it hits the water. Then it releases the bait to the desired depth. It has a safety release on it so it can only be launched when you're ready. It has a secret compartment for extra hooks and weights. The package also comes with a bobber, a learn to fish DVD, Roland Martins' Fishing Tips, and a Tackle Pack and sells for about $40.00.
