FRENCHMAN LAKE: Recent wet weather has slowed the fishermen, but many anglers have been catching limits all around the lake. One angler reported catching a limit at Crystal Point in 11/2 hours using nightcrawlers floating on top. A troller caught his limit using various flies and floating them on top. Conditions can change quickly so call ahead. Wiggin's Trading Post, 530-993-4683.
LAKE DAVIS: Between lightning, torrential downpours and gusty winds, fishing at the lake has been quite a challenge over the last week. Water temperatures cooled to 62 degrees in most spots and some activity is returning over the past couple of days for trollers and fly-fishermen. Dillard's Guided Fishing reported taking limits in 12-16 feet of water from the Honker Cove boat ramp out around the Big Island. Lures producing best results were Needlefish, size 1, in Red Dot Frog and Fire Tiger patterns. Trolling flies in rust, olive and black is also working. Fly-fishermen seem to be having luck behind a Bead Head Pheasant Tail Flashback under a strike indicator. Best areas have been Freeman, Cow and Jenkins. Shore fishing continues to cause frustration for most. Try inflated crawlers at Fairview and Camp 5. A few sunny days should bring things back around.
Fishing derby is June 20, from 5 a.m.-5 p.m. dollardsmarket.com. E-mail --

PYRAMID LAKE: The fishing has remained really good. It is getting tougher to find the fish, but when you find them, 20-30 fish days are still happening. The north end of the lake has had some great reports. Nymphing and pulling streamers both have been catching fish. The lake closes at the end of June. Reno Fly Shop, 775-825-3474.

TRUCKEE RIVER: The flows have come down significantly in the past few weeks and we are nearing prime conditions. Hatches have started all along the Truckee, but are more prevalent on the Nevada side. Caddis, Green Drakes and Little Yellow Stones are all a major possibility. Nymphs to use for these include Poxy-Back Golden Stones, Burks' Green Drake, a variety of Little Yellow Stone patterns and Burks' Bottom Rollers.

LITTLE TRUCKEE RIVER: The low flows coming out of Stampede Reservoir have kept the fishing good. Very small nymphs such as Zebra Midges, Pheasant Tails, Micro Stones, Baetis and San Juan Worms on a long and light leader have been working the best. Also, the carpenter ants have been out so take a few ant patterns in sizes 10 to 12. Reno Fly Shop, 775-825-3474.

EAST WALKER RIVER: The water levels still are fluctuating a bit with the irrigation season and the end of the run-off. Despite that fact the fishing has been very good. Nymphing with Copper John, Hare's Ear, Golden Stones and small midge pupa patterns have been working the best. Bring a few Stimulators and caddis along for the evening hatch. Reno Fly Shop, 775-825-3474.
EAST CARSON RIVER: Flows are still dropping, but are getting near prime for this time of year. Try some Golden Stones, Burks' Bottom Rollers, Caddis and Little Yellow Stones in both dries and nymphs. Reno Fly Shop, 775-825-3474.

EAGLE LAKE: Fishing was good last week, but the time of the bite was different each day because the thunder storms. There is a good afternoon bite and the fish are in the shallow water, 4-6 feet. This is good news for fl- fisherman, how long this condition will last is hard to say. Trolling at the Youth Camp with worms, lures and flies. Bobber-fishing has been good in the shallows, but the time of day is sporadic. For info call Eagle Lake Charters, 530-260-3474.

LAKE SABRINA: (Bishop, Calif.). Both inlets, Little George and Dingleberry, were doing great with salmon eggs, nightcrawlers or jigs. Trolling Thomas Buoyants or flashers and a worm had anglers cruising around the lake in hopes of landing that $300 tag. Two tagged fish caught so far out of the lake, but there's more, and don't forget the large Alpers and Browns still in there. Powerbait and worms were working both for those drifting around the lake and those on shore. One group bought 15 Red/Gold Thomas Buoyants as they kept catching those darn "rock" fish. Lake Sabrina Boat Landing, 760-873-7425.
SOUTH LAKE: Another week of wild weather didn't prevent anglers from doing well. Following a DFG stocking, the bite at South Lake stayed hot last week for both trollers and bait dunkers. The hot bait was crawlers fished under a bobber with a 6-foot leader or fished off the bottom using a pink or orange Gulp egg to float it. Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters were the best lures for trolling. Plastics continue to be the best bet by the inlets. The dam, rock slide and Boiler Cove were the places to be for boaters. Shore anglers did best by the boat launch or on the far side of the dam.
The Bishop Creek Canyon Summer Classic Derby is in full swing and two of the prize tags have been caught so far. All the tags still remain in South Lake. That still leaves most of the prizes up for grabs, including the big money tags, so derby participants still have a great chance of catching a winning fish.
With the rain, hail and snow in the last week, the level at South Lake is still coming up fast. Unfortunately, the launch ramp is still high and dry so it will be awhile before private boaters can get out on the lake. Info: 760- 873-4177. E-mail:

SOUTH FORK BISHOP CREEK: Creek fishing was a bit on the slow side again last week after yet another week without a DFG plant. Thankfully, Adopt-A-Creek did stock 2-pound average Alpers in the South Fork and Intake II last week, which helped out a lot. Anglers aren't loading up on huge numbers of fish in the creek, but there are some quality fish being caught on salmon eggs, mini-jigs and Panther Martins. Info: 760-873-4177. E-mail:
