We have two ponds, and for some time we thought that at least one pond was really deep. But last week we went out on our paddleboat and took a large pole to measure it - it's only about 5 feet uniformly!

Shocking!

Maybe the refraction of light caused by the water fooled you? I know it's happened to me a few times.
As long as it's deep enough to fish in, shouldn't be a problem hehe. :)

We have a lake within a few miles of where we live. The lake is a 14-acre lake and has an over-flow pond for the, well, over-flow. LOL. When we first started fishing there we thought it was at least 4 or 5 feet deep near the center...it's actually only a foot or two!
We catch bluegill, sunfish, the occasional crappie, rock bass, large mouth bass and catfish there. I'd love to see what all is in the lake! :)
