Kim Mills from the Kelley Fleet out of Haulover Marina reported steady catches of kingfish, mutton and yellowtail snappers and keeper red groupers in 160 feet of water outside of Haulover Inlet.

Captain Jim Hobales of Caught Lookin Charters reported that schools of pilchards, Spanish sardines and mullet are attracting lots of action from jack crevalles up to 20 pounds, tarpon, bull sharks, snapper and sea trout in North Biscayne Bay. . . . Bob Epling of Miami and Lewis Carrol from Tennessee teamed to release tarpon, jack crevalles up to nine pounds, ladyfish and bluerunners while fishing in North Biscayne Bay with captain Alan Sherman.

Taking advantage of a few days without bookings, captains Josh Gilmartin, Mike Cofield and Chris Johnson on the Sea Squared charter boat out of Marathon teamed to catch yellowtails in the 18-to-22-inch range while fishing the outside edge of the outer reef in 80 feet of water. . . . Stan Dickinson of Stuart, fishing with captain Jeff Bloodworth out of Islamorada, came across a huge school of large dolphins and caught 20 in the 8-to-15-pound range on rigged ballyhoo in 1,500 to 1,800 feet of water. . . . Miami Herald columnist Carl Hiaasen of Vero Beach won the Grand Champion Title during the Islamorada Invitational Fall Fly Bonefish Tournament with three weight fish and eight releases. His guide was captain Tim Klein of Islamorada.

Freddy Caimotto from the Snook Nook in Jensen Beach reported a good bite on dolphins up to 15 pounds in 115 feet of water and vermillion snappers on the bottom. At night, the swordfish are hitting in 1,700 feet of water. . . . Captain Charlie Conner of FishTales Charters out of Port St. Lucie reported that in the river, his clients are catching snook, redfish, jacks, flounder and grouper by casting the DOA TerrorEyz and shallow running Baitbusters.
FLORIDA BAY
Captain Benny Blanco continues to have success on 10-to-20-pound tarpon, overslot-sized redfish and underslot-sized snook while fishing the shallow flats. His hot lures were Rapala Skitter Walks in the morning and the Bass Assassin Paddle tails and the Morrodine. . . . Gil Muatori of Miami and Ted Wilks of New Jersey caught 29 snook, six redfish, goliath grouper and trout while fishing out of Flamingo with captain Mike Hutchisson. . . . During the Herman Lucerne Memorial Tournament that benefited the Everglades Restoration Fund 102, seven species of fish were released. Grand Champion Team Guided was local Barry Shevlin and Buck Fisher, guided by captain Brian Williams; Team Non Guided Grand Champion was Thomas and Ken Tafoya; and Junior Champion was Ridge Murphy, guided by captain Matt Lofton.

Captain Matt Hoover of Night Flight Charters out of Naples has been hammering the medium-sized snook and keeper-sized redfish, snappers, ladyfish and jacks on live scaled sardines. Hoover reported that the snook are stacked up on the outside islands in the areas of Caxambas Pass and South Marco.

Howard Kleeman of Slims Fishing Camp out of Belle Glade reported that the largemouth bass are hitting live shiners and top water lures around the west side of Retta Island and Long Point and Pelican Bay, and that the bluegills are eating live crickets in the Rim Ditch around the dikes.
