Do you ever do any trotline fishing? If so, what do you generally try to catch with it?

What is trotline fishing? I don't know either! I'm surprised that I haven't heard of it, because I've been fishing for a hobby for quite awhile. Maybe I know the technique, but didn't know it was called by this name.

I'm surprised no one's heard of it. Is it something they only do in Alabama!?!
Here's a website that explains it, in regard to catfish: http://www.catfishbaitsoap.com/trotline_shallowtodeep.html
Basically, you get a long line with several shorter lines with hooks attached to it. These are suspended in the water (around here people use milk jugs alot) and you leave them in the water for a while. Often times, you'll catch several fish instead of just one.

Ohhh, so that's what they call it? I think I've seen it done in passing, but I have never done it myself. Thanks for sharing the link!

Glad I could introduce you to a new form of fishing! LOL
I'm pretty sure you can use it for most any fish, depending on how deep you set the shorter lines. Personally, I don't know if I'd want to have to bait all of those hooks! ;)

Trotline fishing is the BEST! IT is awesome! We do go often and we usually run several different lines. Catfish is usually easy to get.. We did get a few bass last time though. I like it because it is easier to me than sitting out all day and you still get to reap the rewards!
