Fish stories

Okay, we've been discussing types of fish, what about fish stories you've heard. You know, things that just CAN'T be true.

One of my children told me they caught a fish so big that they couldn't fit it in the back of the truck. :eek: Of course, it got away! :D

My grandfather used to tell me that he once caught a fish so big, that it dragged his boat around the lake! Of course, that one got away as well.

Haha... well... where do I begin with these stories! My boyfriend said he caught a catfish so big that it pulled him into the pond! Yeah right! As you may have expected... it got away. :P

Too bad that the tale didn't really happen. I bet it would've been hilarious if it really did happen *and* was caught on tape!

I soooooooo wish that it were! I'd put it up on You Tube and that America's Most Funniest Video show! LOL

They've actually caught some catfish around the dam at Lake Guntersville that were as big as a small child. If I remember correctly, the story in the paper said the catish weighed well over 50 pounds. I can't imagine.

I was night fishing at my father-in-law's pond one summer night. I was using a jitterbug, retrieving it noisily across the water. I had a HUGE bite, set the hook, & prepared to play the fish.

In an instant, I realized this was no fish - the pole was bending UP!

Long story short, I had hooked a great horned owl.

We tried to free him, but he ended up drowning, weighed down by a heavy wool blanket we had thrown over him in an attempt to subdue him so we could get the hook out of his leg.

That's a shame about the owl. Did you have to turn it in to the local game warden? I'm thinking that horned owls are protected or something. I think I probably would have had it stuffed, if I could keep it.

Woaaaah... I think that if I had hooked an Owl, I would have never figured that one out. I would have been stupidly yanking the pole back and forth for a while, until I figured it out. LOL

My six year old went fishing with my sister and her boyfriend last summer. When they got back and my sister left, he started telling me he caught a fish that weighed 50 pounds and when he got it half way reeled in, the fish jumped up and said "you can't keep me!" and started laughing as it swam back under!!! What an imagination eh?
