FRENCHMAN LAKE: Fishing has been decent. Those having the best succcess are going down 25-35 feet. Try Needlefish or nightcrawlers. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559.
LAKE DAVIS: Fishing is normal for the hot days of July, as the water warms (71-75 degrees) the fishing slows down. The fishermen catching fish are the exception, not the rule. On Sunday, a father and daughter duo landed six fish while fly-fishing at Jenkins Cove. They were using olive wooly buggers. A local guide on the lake had four trips last week, landing three to seven fish each trip. The effective trolling depth has varied depending on the depth of water fished. Shore fishing has been best in the deep water channel off the Honker Cove boat ramp. dollardsmarket.com.
TRUCKEE RIVER: Fishing has been fair to good. Good in the evenings for fly-fishermen using stone flies and caddis imitations. Spin fishermen are doing fair in the mornings and evenings when the water is cooler. Ty Panther Martins or jointed Rapalas in brown trout or black and silver. Bait fishermen also doing well in mornings and evenings.
MARILYN'S POND: This pond up the Mt. Rose highway is a good place to take children to fish. Fishing has been good using nightcrawlers on the bottom. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559.
WILSON'S COMMON: This lake in Washoe Valley is also good for children. Nightcrawlers are working well. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559.
LAHONTAN/RYE PATCH: Both have been fair to good. Slow trolling with nightcrawlers. Try worms from shore at night. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559.
EAGLE LAKE : Bobber fishing is the best method in 50-feet of water and 30 feet deep on the slip bobber. Trolling has slowed down, but should improve as the moon changes. Your best bet is at Minors Bay and Eagles Nest. Smoke has returned and could make navigation difficult in the early morning. The bite is still best between 5-7 a.m. For further info call Eagle Lake Charters at 530-260-3474.
LITTLE TRUCKEE RIVER: Good flows for the middle of the summer. Fishing is a little tougher now due to pressure. There are still some Green Drakes and PMDs hatching in mid-mornings. It's time to go to light tippet and small flies. Size 18 HBIs and Pheasant tails fished under a hopper with 6X tippet is a good bet now. Reno Fly Shop, 825-3474.
BOCA: Fishing has been good around the inlet. Boaters doing well with dodgers and worms for trout and dodgers and kokanee bugs for kokanee. Mark Fore & Strike, 786-3474 or 322-9559.
WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: Trout fishing is good with heavy fish hiting worm and Powerbait sandwiches. Perch are still working in Hendricks and Penrod Coves. Hunters are starting to scout the area for bow seasons. Dunn's Wildhorse Resort, dunnswildhorsresort.com or (775) 758-6472.

Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Kirk Portocarrero, (800) 670-4448 or (530) 221-6151.
UPPER TWIN LAKES: Nice stringers coming in from shore by anglers using nightcrawlers and Powerbait. Thomas Buoyant's also worked well last week. Derby starts today and runs through Aug. 10. Mono Village Resort (760) 932-7071.
LAKE SABRINA: (Bishop, Calif.). The lake is still full of water. Department of Fish and Game will be planting again this week. Dylan Boles, age 6 of Minden landed a nice 5 1/2 pound Alper across from the landing on a nightcrawler.
Pretty much the same is working this week as the week before. At the Dingleberry Inlet, try nightcrawlers or Powerbait, but mini-jigs and flies have also come into the mix. Drifting around the rock piles with nightcrawlers or Powerbait or trolling using flashers and a nightcrawler or just a mini-jig, olive Wooley Bugger, Red and Gold Thomas Buoyant or gold Kastmaster. Trolling the front half of the lake is still producing a bit better than the deep natural lake. Those fishing from shore or the dam are using Powerbait or nightcrawlers.
Temperatures are still running in the mid 70s for the highs and low 40s for the lows.
