Catfish

What do you use as bait to catch catfish? My husband swears by the stinky stuff in a jar that you can get from Walmart. Personally, I don't like the smell and let him bait the hook so I don't have to smell like it afterwards.

Yup! The stinky stuff always gets those fat lazy catfish. My boyfriend told me this too, and I use to have to make him hook all of the stuff up because I couldnt stand the smell of it. Sometimes we use leftovers from dinner depending upon the ingredients. The thing that worked the best were these scallops that we made with garlic, and then we wrapped them in bacon. I caught so many catfish with those, it wasnt even funny.

Yeah... the only reason we had left over scallops wrapped with bacon was because we all of the steak and lobster and mashed potatoes and peas, and apple pie and cool whip and shrimp (and whatever else we had!) and the scallops were'nt done until we were all done eating. LOL. We tend to over-do those 4th of July camping trip dinners. ;)

I'm not sure what is in the stinky jars, but I'm sure some of it has to be limburger cheese! Phew!! I won't touch the stuff and he has to keep the open jar in the back of the truck. LOL

I hope you don't touch that stuff with your bare hands then, hehe! Sounds like the stench would just stay on your hands, and that would be icky. I have no problems baiting my own hook or breaking large nightcrawlers in half, but a bad smell I wouldn't be able to stand!

CHICKEN LIVER! Yes, it is nasty but it works like a charm. Best stuff ever to catch catfish. They really love the liver for some reason. :)
