ATHENS — ATHENS — Lake Athens is 14 inches low and stained. Water temp is about 77 degrees.

Lake regular Jerry Hanson said bass are fair to three pounds using topwaters an floating worms worked around grass from the bank out to eight feet.

Crappie fishermen are pulling partial limits off brush piles in 10 feet of water.

CEDAR CREEK — The lake is 3.18 feet low and stained. Water temp is in he mid-70s.

Fishing guide Jason Barber says white bass and hybrids are beginning to gang up over structure. Best bite early is coming on schooling fish using 'Traps and topwaters worked on points and humps 10 feet deep, then moving to 25 feet with spoons and heavy swim baits.

Crappie are taking shiners and jigs tipped with Berkley Crappie Nibbles around bridges and brush in 12-20 feet of water. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits, cranks and plastics tossed around rip raft; a few fish still holding along shoreline cover. Catfish are steady on windy points and shallow humps using fresh cut bait.

PALESTINE — The lake is about 2 1/2 feet low and stained up north, clear down south. Water temp in the mid-70s.

Fishing guide Ricky Vandergriff says black bass to four pounds are taking Shimmy Shakers and Brush Hogs fished in relation to boat docks in 2-4 feet of water. A few fish hitting plastics tossed to stumps lining channel breaks up north.

Crappie are good. Limits reported around brush in 14 feet of water using 1/16-ounce jigs. White bass are schooling off and on over points. Best bite coming on chrome/blue Rat-L-Traps.

Catfish are good along wind blown shorelines using punch bait.

RICHLAND CHAMBERS — RC is about 2.8 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp is in the mid-70s.

Larry Winters at Midway Landing says black bass are fair in 4-6 feet of water using lipless cranks and spinnerbaits. The fish are holding tight to timber.

Crappie are on the move. Best bite is in 16-28 feet, suspended at 7-15 depending on sunlight. Jug liners are reporting fair results in 15-25 feet of water. Good numbers of blues in the 4-8 pound range reported on live perch.

White bass are good on points in 20-28 feet of water using spoons. A few fish schooling on the surface early.

NACOGDOCHES — The lake is about 6.7 feet low and clear. Water temp is in the mid-to-upper 70s.

Bass are good to about seven pounds on shallow diving cranks worked in 5-6 feet of water. Topwaters, buzz baits and frogs also are producing some solid fish around lily pad stands.

Crappie are fair on jigs and shiners fished around brush piles in 20-30 feet of water.

SAM RAYBURN — The lake is 8.5 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp is in the upper 70s.

Bass are good to eight pounds. Pro angler Keith Combs reported a strong bite on buzz frogs and topwaters fished over and around outside edges of peppergrass beds in shallow water. The bite has been good all day at times. Bass also are taking Carolina rigs and Texas rigs in the same areas, as well as off deeper points.

Crappie fishermen are bringing in some respectable catches up to 1 3/4 pounds using shiners and jigs around brush piles on the main lake.

FORK — The lake is 3 1/2 feet low and clear. Water temp is in the mid-70s.

Fishing guide Gary Paris says bass are good to nine pounds. There are big schools of fish concentrated along creek bends and ledges in 8-15 feet of water. Topwaters, crankbaits and topwaters also have been productive in 3-6 feet of water.

White bass are schooling over main lake points, taking topwaters and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie anglers are reporting limits over brush in 20-25 feet of water using minnows and jigs.

PINKSTON — The lake is about four feet low and very clear. Water temp in the mid-70s.

Lake regular Alan Spruiell said bass to seven pounds are hitting swim baits, Rat-L-Traps, crankbaits and light Texas rigs worked over grass flats in 5-6 feet of water. The fish are feeding strong on shad.
