Lake of the Woods

Ballard's Resort suggests jigging for walleyes anchored in the mud off Birch Beach in 34 to 35 feet, slow and steady with a lightly tipped presentation. For sandy shorelines try Pine Island, Zippel, Long Point, Stony and Garden using nightcrawlers, minnows and leech harnesses in 10 to 16 feet.

Park Rapids area

Delaney's reports consistent walleye fishing in Potato, Fishhook and Big Sand using leeches and shiners in 12 to 20 feet, depending on the lake. The Crow Wing Chain is producing crappies, jigging worms and crappie minnows in 4 to 10 feet.

Bemidji area

Taber's Bait reports a good walleye bite using leeches, jigs and minnows in Lake Bemidji in 11 to 18 feet. Walleyes also are coming out of Plantaganette, fishing 7 to 12 feet using jigs and minnows, in Cass in 11 to 22 feet using leeches, and in Turtle River Lake using nightcrawlers, minnows and leeches in 20 feet.

Alexandria area

Area lakes are producing crappies on crappie minnows in 6 to 10 feet according to Christopherson's Bait. Walleyes are coming out of Mary and Reno using shiner and fathead minnows in 15 to 20 feet.

Spicer area

Mel's Sports reports Green Lake is producing smallmouth bass on the rock bars in the shallows up to 12 feet and walleyes in 30 feet using leeches and nightcrawlers.

Stillwater-St. Croix River

Jimmy's Bait reports walleyes are hitting in 12 to 18 feet and saugers in 18 to 27 feet using bright colored crankbaits, and also Lindy Rigging with fathead minnows or jumbo leeches off holes in the points. Crappie action in 10 to 18 feet; off docks, bobber fishing with crappie minnows, Betts Spins and Flu Flu jigs.
