Presque Isle Bay, Lake Erie tributaries (Erie County) -- Open water was reported on much of the bay mid-week, with snowfall yesterday and more in the forecast. Before the recent thaw, panfish in mixed sizes were iced. Earlier this week, streams were wide open and yielding a few steelhead, but they were starting to ice up yesterday afternoon.

Lake Pleasant (Erie County) -- This small, natural lake was yielding bluegills, crappies and perch through the ice last week. Trout were hitting in 2 to 3 feet on Swedish pimple spoons and tip-ups with minnows.

Allegheny River (Warren County) -- Billy Acklin of Warren limited out on walleyes, 15-19 inches, last weekend. Water was high yesterday.

Chapman Reservoir (Warren County) -- As conditions allowed, anglers were icing trout. Another state trout-stocking is slated for Jan. 19.

French Creek (Venango, Crawford counties) -- Water was over the banks Monday.

Pymatuning Reservoir (Crawford County) -- The warmup last weekend caused some surface melt, although anglers were icing nice crappies and perch Thursday on small jigs tipped with maggots or minnows, mostly on the north end, where last week anglers reported a steady bite on crappies up to 14 inches. Walleyes were hitting blade baits and jigging Rapalas with minnows in 12-18 feet on the south end.

Conneaut Lake (Crawford County) --Until the thaw last weekend, nice catches of northern pike were reported. The bluegill bite was slow.

Woodcock Lake (Crawford County) -- Anglers were icing crappies and walleyes last week, with the walleyes hitting in 14-16 feet.
