BLACK BAYOU — Crappie are slow to fair on jigs or shiners. Bass are fair on lizards and jigs fished around grass.

CANEY LAKE — The yellow bass are going for jigging spoons bounced off the bottom in 40 foot water. Crappie are suspended 25 feet around structure and some have been caught on shiners and Bobby Garland double silver rainbow and blue thunder jigs. Bass are starting to hit jigging spoons and tail spinners fished near the bottom in deep water.

CHENIERE LAKE — The Puckett Lake area as well as the mill pond are producing some crappie deep on jigs or shiners. No report on bass.

LAKE CLAIBORNE — Fishermen trying for crappie in deep water out from the dam have been catching lots of barfish but few crappie. Some crappie have been caught in the channel just out from the state park on shiners and jigs. Catfishing is fair on blood and cheese baits while the bass are fair on jigs and shaky heads.

LAKE D’ARBONNE — Crappie fishing is improving with best catches made around the Highway 2 bridge and in the channel around Bear Creek. The Bobby Garland Blue Thunder and Electric Chicken are picking up some good fish. Bass are hitting Rat-L-Traps and jigs fished along the edges of the channel. Catfish are good on cold worms and red wigglers fished on the flats and off the banks.

OUACHITA RIVER — Bass fishing has been best up the creeks on jigs and soft plastic lures while best crappie fishing has been in the river lakes and in the creeks on shiners or jigs.

LAKE POVERTY POINT — Catfishing is good on cut bait especially around the marina. Some to over 10 pounds are being caught. Crappie fishing is best in the mornings on the south end of the lake while better fishing is in the afternoons around the boat slips at the marina. No report on bass.

LAKE ST. JOHN — Catfishing is good on yo-yos baited with cold worms. The crappie have not shown up yet where they usually are this time of year. Bass fishing is slow.

LAKE YUCATAN — The lake is high and rising with a fairly rapid fall expected next week. Currently, nobody is fishing until conditions improve.
