CHEROKEE

Bass-Good. Big numbers of largemouth and some smallmouth are being caught around shallow weeds where the water is murky. Topwater baits and spinnerbaits have been best, but most of the shallow fish are small. Crappie -Fair. It takes some looking but decent stringers of fish can be caught by around brushpiles ande on points. Most fishermen are catching a keeper or two, then changing spots. Striped bass-Fair to good. Fish Point 4 to Point 8 and Point 15 to Point 17. Drifting or straightlining shad or trolling with umbrella rigs is catching most of the fish. Topwater baits are picking up a few early in the morning. Walleye-Fair. Point 19 and Point 23 have been best. Troll with nightcrawlers.

CHICKAMAUGA

Bass-Good. Higher-than-normal water levels are pushing bass into weedy areas where spinnerbaits, topwater baits and plastic worms have been effective. The bigger bass are deeper and have been caught on points and humps along or close to the main channel. Crappie-Fair. Not a lot of fishermen are going after crappie. Most of the ones that are have concentrated on the bluff walls in the main channel and are fishing deep. Striped bass-Fair to slow. Work below Chickamauga Dam is limiting current flow and that is probably why the stripers aren't biting well. the best fishing is near Watts Bar Dam on the upper end, with live bait catching most of the fish. White bass-Improving. Fish below Watts Bar Dam or on humps and ledges on the lower end of the lake.

DOUGLAS

Bass-Good. The best fishing has been early in the morning for those who like the shallows. Topwater baits and soft plastics fished near the weeds have been catching bass before 8 a.m., but the bite slows after that. Jerkbaits and crankbaits fished on points have been best later in the day and in the late afternoon. Crappie-Slow. A few fish are coming from creek channels 10 to 15 feet deep. Trolling with jigs and minnows has been best. Bluegill-Good. Fish gravel points or shady areas around docks and downed trees. Where cicadas are present bluegill can be caught on popping bugs and small topwater baits.

FORT LOUDOUN/TELLICO

Bass-Good. A lot of them are small but largemouth are being caught in good numbers on both lakes. A lot of fishermen are catching the smaller bass on shaky head and Texas-rigged worms shallow near brush and trees. Jig fishermen flipping trees and docks are catching fewer fish, but the average size is better. Crappie-Fair. Trolling the creek channels during the day is producing a few fish. At night fishing 6 to 10 feet deep under lights is also OK. Targeting brush close to deep water has been best at night. Striped bass-Fair. Below the dam fishing has been good one day and bad the next. On sunny days the bite is best just after daybreak and at dusk. Most of the fish have been caught on shad, but early in the morning jigs and crankbaits have been OK. Sauger -Fair. At Forks of the River a few are being caught on jigs and minnows, but they are deep.

MELTON HILL

Bass-Fair. Fishing in the main channel is better than in the coves according to DeWayne Raines. Plastic worms and jigs fished 5 to 15 feet deep and topwater baits are best. Fishing is much better when a current is present. Crappie-Slow. A few are still being caught in Bull Run Creek, but most have moved to the deep water. Docks and boat houses close where the water is 7 to 20 feet deep have been the best places to start looking. Striped bass - Fair. Above the dam some breaking stripers have been caught in the area just above and below the reactor. Below the dam fishing has been hit or miss. Musky - Fair. A few can still be seen breaking near the steam plant, most have spread out into the channel to deeper water.

NORRIS

Bass - Fair. The best fishing at dawn and dusk for largemouth and spots, at night for smallmouth. Largemouth are hitting shallow near shoreline brush and smallmout are hitting jigs at night, topwater baits at dawn. Striped bass-Slow. The best fishing has been at daybreak in the Island F to Lost Creek areas. The best baits are shad or 1/2 -ounce leadhead jigs tipped with a 3-inch grub and trolled behind planer boards. Crappie-Improving. Fish at night near brush 10 to 15 feet deep. Sycamore Creek, Vasper Hollow and Davis Creek have been some of the better areas. Bluegill-Good. A lot of shellcrackers are being caught in the hollows near Big Ridge and Poor Land Creek. Most are being caught on the bottom 5 to 15 feet deep.

WATTS BAR

Bass-Good. A lot of bass are being caught shallow early in areas where they have easy access to deep water. Crankbaits, plastic worms and topwater baits are working well. Crappie-Fair. Night fishing has picked up. Brush 6 to 12 feet deep and downed trees in deep coves and the main channel have been producing a few fish. Minnows have been working best. Catfish-Good. Most are small, but the bite in the main river channel is very good. Cutbait has been working best. Striped bass-Fair. Humps in the main channel have been producing some fish, most of them medium to small size. The mid-section of the lake has been best. Topwater is OK in the morning; live bait best most of the day.
