Jerry Hanson at Lake Athens Marina said bass anglers are picking up some solid slot fish to six pounds using Rat-L-Traps and spinnerbaits worked from the bank out to six feet around hydrilla beds. A few fish also reported on buzz frogs.
Crappie fishing is excellent on jigs and shiners soaked around brush piles in 10 feet of water. A few fish also holding on points in 4-6 feet of water. Catfish are fair on shad and punch bait soaked on bottom in water 10-12 feet deep.

Fishing guide Jason Barber said white bass, hybrids are excellent on cut shad fished on Carolina rigs in 1-6 feet of water, mostly on main lake points. Several hybrids up to nine pounds in the mix.
