FRENCHMAN LAKE: Fishing was excellent last week. One fisherman from Loyalton caught three fish using salmon eggs at Frenchman's boat landing. Ice is off the lake, but there is snow on the ground around the lake and on roads past the dam. Wiggin's Trading Post at 530-993-4683.

PYRAMID LAKE: Fishing has been good. Fly guys are doing well south of the south Nets and at Pelican Point, using nymphs in red and green, midge imitation type nymphs, also using standard wooly buggers right on the bottom in purple, black and white. A few fee fish have been taken on beetles in chartreuse and white, also pink and white. Trollers doing well on Flatfish, going down 30 feet. The area from Pelican to Warrior Point has been good. The Nets are closed until May 15. Mark Fore & Strike at 775-786-3474 or 775-322-9559.

According to the Pyramid Lake Regulations Section 15.1.2, fishermen are allowed up to two hooks, whether the hook is a single, double or treble, the hook needs to be barbless. For more information concerning Pyramid Lake or the regulations visitors can contact the Pyramid Lake Ranger Station at 775-476-1155.

TRUCKEE RIVER: Fishing has been up and down, due to the weather and fluctuating flows. If it remains steady for a few days, fishing should be decent. Some good fish have been taken on Rapals and Rebels. Nightcrawlers have been working. Fly-fishermen doing well with Golden Stones nymphs in size 10-12. The downtown Reno corridor is as good as anywhere. Mark Fore & Strike at 775-786-3474 or 775-322-9559.

LITTLE TRUCKEE RIVER: The road is finally passable but four storms are expected over the next seven days. This will most likely close the road again for a little while. Flows are steady at 247 cfs Nymphing with small nymphs under an indicator has been catching a few fish. The water is really cold and the fish are still in winter mode. Look for the little Truckee to start to get good a week or two after the road opens again. Reno Fly Shop at 775-825-3474 or www.renoflyshop.com (http://www.renoflyshop.com).

COLLINS LAKE: 2,000 pounds of trophy trout scheduled for Collins Lake last week. Trout are the main target although some bass have been spotted as well. Worms working well. Catching them anywhere along the east side from the dam to the bridge. Live crickets also were good. All in all fishing has been steady with very little pressure and will only continue to escalate in the next few weeks. This is especially true of shore fishing, which is at it's peak this time of year through the end of May. Then the trout will dive down deeper, but the good news is when the trout go down, everything else comes up. The bass, catfish, bluegill and crappie will be plentiful throughout the summer and night catches for trout work great.

Last Friday, Josh Knierem from Granite Bay, Calif., caught a 10-pound and an 8-pound tout he caught off the beach on Kastmasters. He was using 4-pound test line. Collins Lake is located between Marysville and Grass Valley off of Highway 20. 800-286-0576.

TOPAZ LAKE: Fishing is decent. Fishermen averaging three to five fish. Trollers using flashers and Needlefish and going down abut five colors of lead core, 20-25 feet. Water level is still good. Topaz Marina at 775-266-3550.

EAST WALKER RIVER: Water flow 172 cfs. Water flow has dropped but the fishing is still good. Prince nymphs, golden stone nymphs, midge pupa and caddis larva sub surface. Stimulators, foam bodied stone fly patterns and blue winged olives on the surface.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: The usual assortment of weather in Northeast Nevada has brought sun, snow, rain, cold, sun, rain, snow and cold. The ice is still holding but the sides are starting to soften up which indicates that ice-off is not far away. Nice trout and perch are still being caught near the State Park and the Hendrix Arm as well. Perch seem to be the dominate species now. Ice-off should bring some good spring fishing. Cats usually are active in the spring especially near the warm water areas. Be prepared for all types of weather and stay on the hard pack in your vehicles. Even if it looks dry, it probably isn't. 775-758-5536. www.nevadablueoutdooradventures.com (http://www.nevadablueoutdooradventures.com).
