Lake Loramie: Fishing for crappies and bluegills couldn't get much better, according to local anglers. The best time for crappies is in the evening with blue, black and purple jigs. You can fish them plain or tip them with a minnow or waxworm. Bank fishing has been good, but boat fishing has been better. Boaters are fishing deeper, then moving toward the banks later in the day. Bluegills are all around the brush near the banks. Use waxworms and fish at varying depths. Anglers are still catching saugeyes in the spillway on grubs on lead-heads or leeches under a bobber. In the lake, fish over the trenches, jigging with leeches. Bass are spawning, so fish close to the banks. Catfish are everywhere. If bank fishing, try to find spots where carp aren't flopping.

Indian Lake: With the water temperature rising into the 60s, saugeye fishing has turned on. Anglers are fishing around bridges with Husky Jerks, bass minnows and nightcrawlers. Dream Bridge and the Old Field channel have produced limits. Bluegills are hitting waxworms, redworms and tiger worms around rocks and docks. White bass have been hitting Roostertails and Mepps at the covered bridge.

Paint Creek Lake: Crappie fishing has been excellent all over the lake. Fish in shallow water, 2-5 feet deep with minnows or black/chartreuse jigs. Bass are being caught from shallow water, 3-5 feet deep, on black plastic worms. Look for rocky areas. White bass are hitting Roostertails in the creek arms. For saugeyes, fish in the spillway with chartreuse twisters. Catfish are hitting chicken liver in the spillway.

Rocky Fork Lake: Crappies are still deep, 10-14 feet, hitting mostly minnows. For bluegills, fish in shallow water in the coves with waxworms. Bass fishing has been good. Most are shallow, hitting Shad-Raps and other small crankbaits. For saugeyes, troll the south beach area with crankbaits or shad-like lures. Channel cats have been hitting cut shad in the Fisherman's Wharf area.

C.J. Brown Reservoir: Crappies up to 13 inches are being caught around the marina at depths 4-9 feet using waxworms and minnows. Walleye fishing has picked up over the old road bed on the north end and around the rocks near the dam, You can troll with crankbaits and Vib-E's or drift and jig with nightcrawlers, bass minnows or leeches. White bass have been hitting minnows or anything shiny on the north end where the creeks come in. Fish in shallow water with waxworms to catch bluegills around the marina, artificial structure and the campground.

Caesar Creek Lake: Saugeye fishing has been good on the flats and around Walker Island. You can troll with a crankbait or drift and jig with nightcrawlers. Even bank fishing for saugeyes has been good, mostly with nightcrawlers. Crappies are about six feet deep in brushpiles. Some up to 14 inches have been caught. Two muskies, 44-inch and 39-inch catch-and-release, were reported last week. For bass, cast toward the banks with spinners or plastics. Bluegills are in the coves, around stickups. Fish with waxworms at varying depths.

Grand Lake St. Marys: Bass fishing has been good in the channels. Use spinners or Brush Hogs and fish around wood. Crappie fishing has been slow. It's best to fish around docks and metal boat lifts. Bluegills are hitting waxworms around docks and rocks. For catfish, use cut bait or chubs all over the lake.

Lake Erie: Walleyes seem to be migrating toward summer locations. Over the past week the best fishing has been around West Sister Island, west of South Bass Island between Green Island and Rattlesnake Island and along the Canadian border from North Bass Island to Gull Island Shoal. Drifting with worm harnesses or casting mayfly rigs has been productive. Trollers have been catching fish on worm harnesses fished with inline weights, snap weights, bottom bouncers, or divers, crankbaits and spoons.

Yellow perch reports have been sparse. Try fishing some of the traditional spots around Marblehead, just east of Kelleys Island and off of the condos east of Vermilion.
