Lake Vermilion

Lake Vermilion Trading Company reports large walleyes are coming in shallow in the evening chasing baitfish, with smaller males more active deeper in 22-32 feet. Crankbaits have been productive early and late in the day trolling windswept shorelines, especially in the Pike Bay area. Anglers are finding northerns in shallow, soft-bottom bays using sucker minnow and a bobber.

Park Rapids Area

Delaney's reports walleyes have been hitting in the shallows in 9-14 feet in Island Lake using a jig and minnow; nightcrawlers and leeches are starting to produce, too. Northerns have been hitting in Big Mantrap Lake in 8 feet with sucker minnows. Area lakes have been producing crappies and the bass opener saw a lots of bass caught.

Longville Area

Longville Bait Co. reports walleye action in Big Boy Lake using shiner and fathead minnows in 12 feet. Bass have been hitting in Little Boy and Woman lakes in 6-8 feet on nightcrawlers and spinner baits.

East Metro Area

Hansen's Little Bear Bait reports Bald Eagle and White Bear lakes have been producing crappies in 8 feet of water on crappie minnows, wax worms and leeches. Also northerns are biting in 4 feet of water on sucker minnows and leeches.

Mankato Area

Walleyes have been biting in Baker's Bay in Washington Lake in 14-18 feet on a jig and minnow, according to The Bobber Shop. Bass have been biting in German Lake and northerns on Little Jefferson Lake.

Spicer Area

Mel's Sports reports crappies have been hitting on Green and Diamond lakes and walleyes are being caught on shiner minnows.
