INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

The action near the Sebastian Inlet has been worth the trip for shorebound anglers. Whether fishing from the north jetty or along the beaches north and south of the inlet, fishing has been good for pompano, bluefish, Spanish mackerel and even king mackerel. An angler fishing at Melbourne Beach landed a 22-pound kingfish during the week. Sheepshead and snook are being caught from the catwalk under the bridge. Wading the flats inside the inlet can yield flounder, trout and redfish for anglers fishing with live shrimp.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY

The Capt. Lew party boat out of Fort Pierce City Marina wrapped a good trip Saturday in 85 feet of water. Big grouper were the highlight of the trip. Angler Jim Rinaldi put a 25-pound gag grouper in the box and then a little later hooked up with a 39-pound warsaw grouper that he wrestled in, setting a new boat record. Trollers managed to find a few dolphin Saturday and a 41-pound kingfish was the biggest fish of the Blue Water Open. Inshore, snook anglers have one last week to find a keeper.

MARTIN COUNTY

Henry Caimotto of the Snook Nook in Jensen Beach reports bluefish, jacks and tarpon are in the surf. Topwater plugs like Yozuri crystal minnows, large chug bugs and Skitterwalks will get blasted out of the water. Fishing with sinking D.O.A. Baitbusters or even a live croaker or whiting in the trough can pick up an occasional snook crusing by. The Jensen Beach Causeway has been a good spot to catch snook and black drum. Tripletail have started moving into the Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie River.

LAKE OKEECHOBEE

The rains have helped suppress the smoldering muck fire in the southwest corner of the lake. That makes for more comfortable fishing conditions in what has been one of the better spots in the lake to find bass. Uncle Joe's Cut has been a good avenue to reach fish in 3-6 feet of water. The Dyamite Holes near Clewiston and out in the channel are other spots that are producing bass bites. The bluegill fishing is still good out along The Shoal and in spots where beds can be found.
