AMADOR: The weekly plant of 3,000 pounds went in Tuesday. Power Bait is the ticket. Most fish are in the top five feet of water. Trout have been averaging close to 4 pounds. (209) 274-4739
BERRYESSA: With daytime temperatures in the 70s, this lake is far from turning over and bringing the fish closer to the surface. Pressure has been light. (707) 966-2134
CAMANCHE: Water temperatures have dropped to the mid-60s and trout fishing is outstanding. One pair of fishermen caught and released 40 trout to 7 pounds during the early part of the week. Rapalas trolled near the surface was the ticket. Bass fishing is fair near rocky areas in 15 feet of water. The South Shore Pond has been getting stocked for a month and fishing is productive. CHABOT: Trout take Power Bait in Bass Cove while catfish are more active near the island. Trout plants from a private hatchery are weekly, and every other week DFG adds a ton of catchable trout. (510) 247-2526
CONTRA LOMA: The water level is dropping for canal repair, and the fishing docks are closed. Anglers can fish from the shore, and trout fishing has been decent with most people getting two or three per outing. (925) 757-0404
DAVIS: Trout fishing is outstanding here. All methods — bait, trolling or fly-fishing bring in dozens of fish in the 17- to 20-inch range. Best area for shore anglers has been Fairview. DEL VALLE: Tuesday was a good day for big fish. An 18-pound catfish and a 7-pound trout were landed by different anglers. Trout fishing is good near the dam and near the Marina in the morning. (925) 449-5201
LAFAYETTE: The first trout plant of the season perked up prospects here. Limits and trout to 5 pounds have been brought in this week. Power Bait, trolled Rapalas and nightcrawlers are good offerings. Next plant is scheduled for next week. There are catfish biting in the East Cove. (925) 284-9669
LOS VAQUEROS: Fishing has been slow, with a few striped bass and a few catfish caught every day, but no consistent catches. Trout fishing has been sporadic, but a plant of 1,200 pounds goes in Friday. Family fishing day will be held Saturday. Call for details. (925) 371-2628
NEW MELONES: Trout plantings have begun making bank anglers more productive. Best trout fishing is at the mouths of creeks using live minnows. Bass are feeding on shad off points. Swimbaits work well when it is windy. (209) 586-2383
SHASTA: Bass are found from the surface down to 40 feet and are taking swimbaits, top water offerings and six-inch worms. Trout are also shallow and chasing shad. Use small Kastmasters or spoons. Salmon are down 40 to 60 feet. 1-800-462-3917

RIO VISTA: Fishing has improved with the better weather, but cooler weather will make things even better. Stripers are spread out from the Rio Vista Bridge to Collinsville. Mudsuckers, shad and bullhead are good baits to employ. (707) 374-2372
TRACY: Striped bass continue to come into Grant Line canal and plenty of legal bass are being caught. Black bass fishing is more difficult, and catfish have slowed. Evening is best. (209) 835-3182
