Cane poles

In Alabama, you don't have to have a fishing license to use a cane pole without a reel. Would it be worth it to you to fish this way, to avoid having to pay for a license?

I suppose that's the kind of pole you'd have to make if you were roughing it.

I take it you'd have to be very observant of your bobber/lure and have quick reflexes to jerk the line enough to set the hook. My reflexes are horrible, so I don't think I'd get any fish this way.

I never said anyone actually fished this way, just that you COULD. ;) LOL

I've never even tried to fish with a cane pole. I wonder if anyone over the age of 15 even does so!

So, I can take it from everyone's reply, that they'd go ahead and get the license and forget about the cane pole. LOL
