Lake of the Wood

Ballard's Resort reported the south shore of Lake of the Woods is producing walleyes on jigs, with most action on Four-Mile Bay and just inside of the Lighthouse Gap. Also on the edge of the river channel that passes through the bay in 8-14 feet. Big Traverse Bay is ice free as far as you can see. Outside of the Lighthouse Gap numerous limits of walleye were taken on Sunday afternoon.

Rainy Lake

Rainy Lake One-Stop reported large walleyes hitting on chubs or rainbows. The ice is mostly out, except for areas near Kettle Falls.

Leech Lake

Ice is out, according to Reed's Sporting Goods. Walleyes are hitting at Pine Point in five to 10 feet of water on shiners, and perch are biting on the Goose Island Flats on fathead minnows.

Lake Minnetonka

Wayzata Bait says the best action is crappie fishing on the north side in 6 feet using jigs and minnows. Walleyes have been caught at night on shallow rocks using minnows and leeches under bobbers.

Alexandria area

Cold water temps are keeping walleyes in the shallows in 4-7 feet of water, according to Christopherson's Bait and Tackle. Use one-eighth-ounce Fireball jigs with fathead minnows or crank baits. Crappie minnows on flu flu jigs or tube jigs have produced smaller crappies in one foot of water and larger crappies in two to four feet.

Lake Osakis

Larger walleyes -- one brought in weighed 7 pounds -- are hitting on nightcrawlers, spot tail shiners and leeches in four to 15 feet of water, according to Fisherman's Corner. Crappie action was reported in two to three feet in the boat harbor of Head of the Lakes Resort using crappie minnows and flu flu jigs.
