NORTHWEST IOWA

Brushy Creek Lake: Water is not as clear, but still good. Nice bluegill, crappie and a few walleye are being caught. Best walleye angling has been in late evening; try leeches on a slip bobber just off the bottom in 6 to 10 feet.

Lower Pine Lake: Bluegill fishing is excellent near the shoreline brush piles.

Upper Pine Lake: Bluegill fishing is excellent. Largemouth bass fishing is fair using a Lindy rig or Carolina rig with a worm or minnow.

Clear Lake: Yellow bass fishing is slow, try drift fishing the reefs with live bait. A few catfish are being caught with night crawlers or cut bait fished on the bottom at the Ventura grade and McIntosh State Park shoreline. Walleyes (mostly sub-legal) are being caught off the jetty using minnows.

NORTHEAST IOWA

Lake Hendricks: Water clarity is very good and the vegetation is beginning to grow along the shoreline. Bluegill - Fair: Try using small twistertails tipped with a small piece of worm. Largemouth Bass - Fair: Crappie - Slow: Try slow trolling in deeper water as crappies have moved off their spawning beds.

Lake Meyer: Water clarity remains good. Nice size cats are being caught on cut bait, fish guts and chubs. Good numbers of smaller bluegill are being caught. Bass, 12-16 inch, can be found everywhere. Crappies have moved to deeper water.

Upper Iowa River (below Decorah): Water levels below Decorah are rising and the water is off color. Smallmouth Bass - Slow: Anglers have had the best luck using worms and other live bait. Walleye - Slow: A few small walleye are being caught on live bait.

Cedar River (above Nashua): Water levels have risen with recent rains and the river has turned muddy. Fishing has slowed due to river conditions.

Lake Delhi: Anglers are catching bluegills and channel catfish in Lake Delhi. Anglers are catching bluegills off of spawning beds fished near the shoreline.

Brinker Lake: Anglers are still reporting catches of crappies caught from the shoreline.

George Wyth Lake: Anglers are catching a few crappies from shore but some sorting is required.

South Prairie Lake: Bluegills are still being caught off of spawning beds fished from shore.

Avenue of the Saints Pond: Bluegill fishing remains fair on Saints Lake. Try fishing a piece of night crawler underneath a bobber.

Plainfield: Some catches of crappies are being reported from this lake.

Cedar River (Nashua to La Porte City): The Cedar River is currently on a slow rise from recent rainfall events and anglers are reporting good catches of channel catfish using cut baits and stink baits.

Wapsipinicon River (Tripoli to Troy Mills): Water levels continue to slowly fall on the Wapsipinicon River. Conditions are good and anglers are reporting catches of channel catfish, crappies, bluegill and walleye.

Casey Lake (aka Hickory Hills Lake): Bluegill fishing is excellent in Casey Lake. A few nice catfish have been caught.

Martens Lake: Anglers are doing well fishing for largemouth bass. Try fishing in and around the cattails for good success.
