Beaver Lake: "Fishing's so good they're chewing the prop off the boat." That's how Aaron Jolliff at Hook, Line and Sinker describes conditions at Beaver Lake this week.
Black bass fishing is excellent with any type of lure that will reach shallow water. Spinner baits, jigs, plastic worms and crank baits are all working as shallow as a foot deep.
Jolliff said crappie are 1 to 3 feet deep and biting minnows and jigs.
Bill Pope at Hickory Creek Marina said catfishing is excellent on the southern end of the lake. Flatheads are biting jug lines and limblines baited with sunfish. Flatheads to 40 pounds have been caught.
Crappie fishermen need to seek out the clearer water in the backs of coves or areas where clear water flows into the lake. Work minnows 6 to 10 feet deep.
Stripers are biting brood minnows or shad at the mouths of Hickory Creek and Nelson Hollow 10 to 15 feet deep.
Jason Piper at J.T. Crappie Guide Services said fishing is fair for crappie 2 feet deep in the backs of coves on small jigs under a float 18 inches deep. Good colors are yellow/white, black/green or blue/white.
Chris Humphreys at Lost Bridge Marina said striper fishing is picking up. Try shad or Red Fins.
White bass fishing in the back of Indian Creek is slowing down, but a few fish are being caught with jigs.
White River below Beaver Dam: Jessi Eardley at the Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting orange or chartreuse Power Bait, minnows or waxworms.
The top lures are Buoyant Spoons in the rainbow-trout pattern, gold or silver Little Cleo spoons and Rapala Glass Minnows in the sunfish color.
Best flies include the WD-40, Cadion midge, Rock Creek caddis, olive Aggrivator and Norfork Special.
Lake Sequoyah: Jackie Smith at Lake Sequoyah boat dock said the lake is muddy and catfishing is excellent.
Shad is the best bait. Channel catfish to 15 pounds have been caught.
Lake Fayetteville: Dollie Black at Lake Fayetteville boat dock said crappie fishing is good with jigs. Les Burlison and John Jones caught 28 crappie from 10.5 to 12 inches on Saturday with jigs. On Sunday they had two 15-fish limits.
The deeper you fish the bigger the crappie, Black said.
Largemouth bass are biting all types of lures. Catfish are going for stink bait, cut bait, liver or nightcrawlers.
Lake Elmdale: Lucky Key at Duck Camp Fishing Retreat said black bass are biting chartreuse Zoom Flukes. Black jigs with a blue pork chunk are also working.
Crappie fishing is hit and miss. Try minnows or jigs 7 feet deep.
Bella Vista: Nick Gann at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said black bass are hitting top-water lures, plastic worms and Zoom Flukes.
Bluegill are biting worms and crickets 8 to 20 feet deep. Trout fishing is good at Lake Brittany on Power Bait.
SWEPCO Lake: Kenny Stroud at the Siloam Springs Walmart said black bass fishing is good on all soft plastics. Fish the bushes and depths to 25 feet.
Crystal Lake: Stroud recommends using jigs or plastic lizards for black bass.
Siloam Springs City Lake: Stroud said black bass are biting Rat-L-Traps.
Upper Table Rock Lake: J.D. Fletcher at Eagle Rock, Mo., said black bass fishing is good.
Jeff Fletcher caught several bass on Saturday including a 7-pound largemouth on a spinner bait in the Roaring River arm and a 3.5-pound smallmouth on a tube bait in a pocket near Holiday Island.
J.D. said Jeff cleaned a few of the bass and one had a 7-inch frog in its stomach.
Crappie are biting tube jigs 6 feet deep around stick-ups.
Eastern Oklahoma: Kenny Stroud at the Siloam Springs Walmart said black bass are biting spinner baits and soft plastics. Crappie are going for small jigs.
The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said largemouth bass fishing is good on crank baits and jigs 10 to 12 feet deep. Catfish are good on shad, goldfish or nightcrawlwers 15 to 30 feet deep.
At Lake Tenkiller, largemouth bass are biting crank baits, spinner baits and lizards 2 to 15 feet deep.
