I hear that it's getting colder in International falls. We almost cancelled our trip up there, but what the heck, I already took the time off, so let's go.The report said norths, smallies, and wallies are in the shallows, and they're even finding crappies. Can't wait.

That does sound fun. Let us know what you catch.

When are you going?

I've never heard of "norts" before. What kind of fish is that?

Be careful on the ice. We'd hate to have a Timcycle. ;)

Do let us know how the fishing went. It will maybe inspire me to try fishing in the winter. Although I doubt it. I like being warm too much. LOL

Do you have shelter on the ice while fishing, or do you just bundle up and fish out in the open?

What is ice fishing like? It seems really scary or something to me... I just have this vision of myself and those I am with falling through the ice. LOL

I've never been ice fishing myself, so when I think of ice fishing...an image from the old Looney Tunes cartoons usually comes, to mind, lol!

Would ice fishing be something a novice like myself could do?

I've seen some places where people have actually moved a temporary shack over an area that they plan to fish. That way, they can be sheltered and still fish. I would think at the very least, you'd want to have a wind break.

Hah! I think of that same Looney Tune thing myself. I am also wondering if ice fishing is something that my boyfriend and I could do. He's an experienced fisher... but I just started about two years ago. He's the one that got me into it.

Personally, I can think of better things to do than sit out on a frozen lake trying to catch fish. I like fishing and all, but I like warmth and the creature comforts a lot more. :D

Who said you could get into my brain, and type my most inner thoughts out on this fishing forum!?! LOL.

Your thoughts are my same thoughts on ice fishing exactly. :D

I know up on Lake Erie, it's a pretty big business. Guys take clients by ATV out to shacks that are heated & pretty comfortable - not at all what you'd expect

I think I'd always be frightened of falling through the ice! There have been a few ice accidents on Lake Ontario the past couple days.
